RENEWAL OF SZENT ISTVÁN SQUARE (TRANSFORMATION OF NORTH SIDE)

On the main square of the district, following the completion of the New Market Hall and the demolition of the old one, the created empty area can provide place for the new spectacular open-air event space of the city. Here, after a total infrastructural reconstruction, dining options, a covered outdoor temporary marketplace, landscapes parterres, waterworks, and areas for kids with playground equipment are linked to the emerging pedestrian surfaces. In each unit of the square the street furniture, water equipment, sun shadings, lightings can be moved or adjusted separately to enable conditions for both great shows and weekday use.

The new pedestrian area equally works as the foreground of the parish church, the New Market Hall and the Cultural Event Space on the top of it. The latter will receive an elevated entrance: a quiet and green Promenade, which is the roof of the outdoor market and the dining options, adjoins the building on the first floor, setting the main square up to a new perspective.
